“Our eyes met, our spirits touched, our lives were intertwined
But now you have gone
on ahead and I am left behind.
Although in distance and in time we may be far apart
Nothing
will ever fade your place in memory and heart.
The day will come when fare-thee-well
becomes a joyous call
To welcome back a brave dear heart in Heaven’s hallowed halls.”
Sherrie
Despite the fact that we have had many many dogs over the years, all are so very special to us. Some are retired to live elsewhere, but that does not lessen our grief when they move on.
April 28 2001 - January 17 2011
Enya was with us for less than 10 years, and in that time overcame both a ruptured gall bladder in 2008 and a bacterial hepatitis in 2009. Diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2010, Enya did quite well for several months but left us, with our vet’s help, in January 2011. Enya was the dam of three champions:
Ch Skyehaven Something About Mary
Ch Skyehaven’s Autumn At Padona
Ch Skyehaven Destiny’s
Child
Jade was a gorgeous girl with a beautiful body, lovely outline, and pretty head detail.
Jade is the dam of three champions:
Ch Skyehaven Winter Colours
Ch Skyehaven First
One Caught
Ch Skyehaven Wintergreen ROMC
Jade was retired in 2004 and lived with her buddy Allyssia (Retired) and their owner Bonnie Dielschneider on Vancouver Island, British Columbia until her passing on January 7 2011.
Boomer left for the Bridge on October 25 2010, after a short struggle with heart disease. Boomer was one of three champions from his litter sired by Am Ch Mystix Quote Unquote, and brother to Trooper (below). Retired at age 7, Boomer spent his last 6 years with our daughter and her family in Brandon MB. Boomer’s legacy includes
Ch Skyehaven Something About Mary
Ch Skyehaven Antiquity
Ch Skyehaven Winter Colours
Midori was with us too short a time, passing on at age 10 years. For her final few years Midori was co-owned by and lived with Padona Shelties.
Midori was the dam of 6 champions:
Ch Skyehaven Antiquity
Ch Silversong Skyehaven Rekindled
Ch
Skyehaven After The Storm
Ch Skyehaven Caught By Design
Ch Skyehaven Sweeter Than Wine
Ch
Skyehaven Third One’s Th’Charm HT
Trooper was a littermate to Boomer, above, but lived a short 26 months before cancer
attacked him in 1999. Trooper was such a special boy, especially to Sherrie, whose
lap was his favourite resting place. He was Boomer’s soccer buddy - the two of them
were a joy to watch as they raced around the yard, arguing over the soccer ball.
Losing Trooper at such a young age halted the Skyehaven breeding program for a considerable
length of time.
Kate was our first home-bred AOAC champion, and was herself the dam of six champion children:
Ch Skyehaven Intrepid
Ch Skyehaven Supersonic
BISS Am Can Ch Skyehaven Royal Hills
Trouble
Ch Skyehaven Here I Come
Ch Skyehaven Ready Set Go CD
Ch Skyehaven Time Traveller
Rainbow was our first AOAC champion, and was the dam of Kate (above). Rainbow was placed in a pet home at age 4, but was found abandoned by her owners at age 11. Rainbow returned to Skyehaven through Sheltie Rescue, and lived out her life with us until passing on at age 14.
Spirit was our first bi-black Sheltie. He was our resident toy squeaker, often walking through the house with a toy in his mouth, squeaking it madly. Sadly, Spirit’s legacy does not carry on here at Skyehaven.
May there always be balls, and toys with squeakers, in Heaven...
Annie came to us from Lynnlea Shelties in Illinois, at the age of 5 years. Annie was our official greeter, always happy to see visitors arrive at our door. Her wagging tail and sparkling eyes sold more puppies than we ever did.
bred three times, producing:
Ch Skyehaven Lynnlea Heart’s Ease
Ch Skyehaven Lynnlea Heart N Soul
Ch Skyehaven Northern
Exposure
Annie left us at almost 15 years of age.
Kaili was our first show and breeding Sheltie, but was so small (barely 13”) that she was overlooked in the show ring. Our daughter Melanie’s dog, Kaili always made us laugh during thunder storms. She would sit facing into a corner and cock her head from one side to another every time the thunder rolled. Kaili was bred three times, producing:
Ch Skyehaven Rocky Mountain High
Ch Skyehaven Gone With The Wind
Ch Skyehaven Chance
Of A Lifetime
Kaili passed away at 14 years of age.
Dusty was our first Sheltie, and the reason Skyehaven Shelties came into existence.
Dusty lived a good long life, passing on the the Bridge at
17 years of age.
Dusty was neither a show dog nor a breeding dog; he had low ears, was a bit oversize,
and was a terrible mooch around dinnertime, but he was our first, our beloved...
he
had a soul.
